About Learn to Discover

Origins:

Learn to Discover was founded by Brian and Shelly Laschkewitsch on February 1, 2000. Development began immediately on curriculum and infrastructure to provide high-quality technology education to all age groups.

Our Company Name:

We believe that children are born with a natural curiosity when allowed to discover their world "on their own". However, we believe that traditional educational structures, while designed to deliver instructional material, often have the negative consequence of restricting that natural curiosity, or even stifling it altogether.

We want to bring back that "age of innocence" where the excitement of learning new things makes students feel alive again, and makes learning fun.

We have found that by helping our students learn how to learn, they become both self-sufficient and self-motivated, because the excitement for learning "sticks". In fact, the student has learned to discover again, hence our company name, Learn to Discover.

Market Focus:

One of the primary goals of the company is to develop innovative, challenging and unique courseware for K-12 students. Classes are held "live" at the labs of Learn to Discover in very small groups, or even individually.

Another primary goal of the company is to develop courseware to appropriately address the wants and needs of the "senior community", i.e., those 55 years of age and older. Sometimes we adapt our existing courseware, but often we develop brand new courseware and educational approaches to address this unique market.

Yet another goal of the company is to "fill in the gaps" in our courseware, adapting and developing even more new courses for those between the ages of about 18 and 55, who we find have their own unique educational desires.

Courseware Delivery:

Learn to Discover delivers its curriculum in the following ways:

  • Classes held at Learn to Discover's labs
  • Classes held at the client's desired location(s)
  • Published materials
  • Via the Web (under development)
